Busy, Busy, Busy

It has been far too long since my last post. Between moving to a new apartment, an exam I have to take that is coming closer and closer to the date, and a good friend moving away, I have been a very busy lady. Even though my schedule has been completely busy, I have not forgotten to do it fashionably. I've been taking a few minutes each day to see what's going on in this fashionable world. The resort 2011 shows are now over and the men's fall 2011 shows are now in full force. I was reviewing the latest show that is going to be the most talked about, which is none other then Alexander McQueen. This is Sarah Burton's first collection after taking over the McQueen name and I have to say it felt like nothing has changed. She really knew what McQueen would have wanted for his collection.

Things to come!

This weekend has come to a close and another week has begun. Back to the office I go with dragging feet behind. This weekend turned out to be wonderful. The weather was great and so were the friends. It was the start of the world cup which I have been watching closely since it begun. Along with that, I was trying to spend as much time outside as possible, which was a success. My good friend Tonya and I spent the day roaming the city eating ice cream, going to some of our favorite shops, and then having dinner while watching soccer.

I have been working on a resort 2011 review for you guys, but there is just so much to review and not enough time in the day. I also want to start making inspiration boards as well and start posting those too. So that's two things that I have been working on and something I'm really excited about!

I hope you all had a great weekend and have a great week as well!

Dress Rehearsal

So this week has been one crazy long week. Some days it felt like it was never going to end! But alas, the weekend is here and it is sunny and warm. Oh how I love summer. Going downtown with good friends, getting ice cream, going to the beach and most of all, relaxing in the sun.

Style Board

Three different outfits for three real situations.

Go from that boring board meeting to a night out with the girls. This outfit lets you remain professional in the office but also still look fashion forward on a night out.

First impressions are what last. Go out dancing or to a dinner and a movie for that first special date. This outfit will sure make the right impression.

After a long week at the office and a hot date the night before, all you want to do is hang out with the girls. Go to brunch, then do some shopping and spill all the latest gossip with your gals.

Fashionable Words

"'Style' is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma. Fashion is something that comes after style"

CFDA Awards

It was one fashionable awards ceremony, or better known as the CFDA's. It was a star studded event that had rooms filled with beautiful people and beautiful clothes. My personal favorite look of the night was the one of Sarah Jessica Parker who wore a stunning floor length number created by the late Alexander McQueen. Sarah Burton, the new head designer of McQueen was recently chosen to carry on with his legacy and hand picked this exqusite number for Parker. The moving and powerful speech she gave as a tribute to McQueen was emotional and heartfelt. During the tribute, they displayed his very last collection which was anything from ordinary. "He was a singular man. How do you do him justice in a few words?" said Parker during the cocktail hour of the awards.

Lots of desevering designers went home with awards last night. Such as the nine time winner Marc Jacobs. He was awarded with the Womenswear Design Statuette.

The always adorable Jason Wu took home the Swarovski Womenswear Statuette. At the dinner following the awards ceremony, he mentioned how nervous he was before the night begun. "I was so nervous, I asked Rachel for advice. She told me 'Just breath.' I think it was her red lipstick. Red is good luck in Chinese culture."

I could not be any happier with the winners of the night. Each person was more than deserving of their awards. Below is the complete list of the winners from the night.
On that note, I will leave you with my favorite quote from the night. It comes from the honoree of the Eugenia Sheppard Award, Kim Hastreiter of Paper Magazine. "I hope the fashion world looks beyond the usual suspects. Just because you're cute, well connected, rich, or the offspring of someone famous doesn't mean you design great stuff."
